Although WhatsApp gives the option to show or hide media in the image gallery, it is usually possible to completely hide WhatsApp images from all areas of your phone Android.
Hide WhatsApp Pictures and Videos on Android Phone
As mentioned above, WhatsApp offers the ability to prevent downloaded media from appearing in your Android phone's image gallery.
However, hiding uploaded images in the Gallery does not prevent them from being found in the WhatsApp photos folder, which can be accessed simply in the Photos app.
So, below we are giving you the steps to hide WhatsApp images in Gallery and also the steps to hide WhatsApp images from all areas of your Android phone.
1. Hide WhatsApp images and movies in your Android phone's gallery
As we have already mentioned, you can prevent WhatsApp photos from appearing in the image gallery by going to WhatsApp settings on your Android phone.
1. OPEN WhatsApp > tap 3 point menu and choose Parameters from the drop-down list.
2. On the Settings screen, click Cats choice.
3. On the next screen, transfer the following switch to Media visibility à OFF place.
Notice: This setting prevents only recently downloaded images and movies from being displayed in the Image Gallery. Previously downloaded images will still appear in the phone's gallery.
2. Hide WhatsApp photos on Android phone
If your phone has a file explorer app, you can follow the steps below to completely hide WhatsApp photos from all areas of your Android phone.
Notice: The File Explorer app is called “My Data” on Samsung devices and “Explorer” on most other Android devices.
If your Android phone doesn't have File Explorer, you can get ES File Explorer from the distributor of Google Play.
1. Open in File Browser Application on your Android phone.
2. On the next screen, click Storage of gadgets.
3. Navigate to WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Photos Archive.
4. Choose WhatsApp Photos Archive by pressing and holding.
5. After choosing the WhatsApp Photos folder, click on 3 point menu (or Further icon) in the top right corner of your screen and choose Rename in the drop-down menu.
6. Rename the WhatsApp Photos folder to .nomedia or anything else that starts with a period (.)
Now, if you happen to open the Image app on your Android phone, you will not be able to discover the WhatsApp Photos folder.
The WhatsApp Photos folder that contains all your WhatsApp photos is only hidden from view on your device and is never lost or deleted.
At any time you can unmask the WhatsApp Media folder by changing its name .nomedia file again for WhatsApp Photos.
3. Hide WhatsApp videos in Android phone gallery
Just like photos, WhatsApp automatically saves movies to the Gallery app on Android phones.
The steps to hide WhatsApp videos in Gallery are almost identical to the steps to hide WhatsApp photos in Gallery on your Android phone.
1. Open in File Browser Application on your Android phone.
2. Navigate to Gadget Storage > WhatsApp > and opens Media Archive.
3. In the WhatsApp media folder, press and hold WhatsApp video Folder to choose this folder to edit.
4. After choosing the WhatsApp video folder, click on 3 point menu icon (or Further Further ) and selected Rename from the drop-down list.
5. Rename WhatsApp movies to .nomedia2 or another title that begins with a period (.)
The above steps will hide WhatsApp videos on your Android phone and you will not be able to discover these videos in the image gallery or anywhere else on your Android phone.
How does this method work?
In case you're wondering, the Android work system is based on Linux, so adding a period (.) in front of a folder or file makes it invisible.
So, you just need to rename the “WhatsApp Photos” and “WhatsApp Movies” folders to make the “WhatsApp Photos” and “WhatsApp Movies” folders invisible on your Android phone.
As we have already said, you can make WhatsApp Photos and Movies invisible at any time by changing the folder name .nomedia Move the folders back to “WhatsApp Photos” and “WhatsApp Video”.
