When you have multiple contacts on WhatsApp, you may want to assign custom ringtones to certain key contacts to distinguish them from others.
This allows you to determine who is calling you on WhatsApp by listening to the custom ringtone assigned to the contact.
Similarly, you can also merge essential contacts into a contact group and assign a custom ringtone to the contact group.
Once you understand this, let’s see the specific steps to set custom WhatsApp ringtones for a person’s contacts and a specific group.
1. Set a custom WhatsApp ringtone for a specific person's contacts
Follow the steps below to create custom ringtones for specific contacts on an Android phone.
1. Open WhatsApp and click the button Cats File.
2. On the Cats screen, choose the option Contact for which you want to set custom ringtones.
3. On the next screen, click the button Contact Identification to access this contact's profile page.
4. On the contact profile page, scroll down and click Custom notifications choice.
5. On the next screen, choose Use custom notifications select and tap Phone ringtone located in the “Name Notifications” section.
Observe: You can set custom message alerts for this contact by tapping Notification tone which is located in the “Message Notifications” section.
6. On the next screen, choose the Stamps that you want to assign to this contact and click OK.
After that, you will be able to see your phone ringing with the selected custom ringtone anytime when that contact calls you on WhatsApp.
2. Set a custom WhatsApp ringtone for teams
You can also assign custom ringtones and message alerts for contact teams on WhatsApp.
1. Open WhatsApp and the tap Cats Separator
2. On the Chats screen, choose WhatsApp Group to which you want to assign a custom ringtone.
3. On the next screen, click the button Group Identification to access the profile page of this contact group.
4. On the Group Profile web page, click on Custom notifications.
5. On the next screen, choose Use custom notifications select and tap Phone ringtone which is located in the “Name Notifications” section.
6. On the next screen, choose the Stamps that you want to assign to this contact group and click OK.
Then you have to find out your phone number using the selected ringtone, whenever someone from that group calls you on WhatsApp.
