Fix Valorant Error 1067 On Windows

The players have faced the error Valorant 1067 or more specifically, error code VAN 1067 when trying to play Valorant on your system.

It turns out that this problem can be caused by a number of factors, including third-party software running on your system, virtualization enabled from the BIOS, or the Hyper-V feature enabled from the Windows features. Windows and more.

What causes Valorant error 1067 on Windows?

As we mentioned earlier, there are quite a few reasons why you might encounter the Valorant error 1067. While third-party software and virtualization feature are there, they are by no means the only reasons that can cause the issue.

On top of that, if you're running the game on Windows 11 without going through the installation requirements of Windows 11, you will also find the error code mentioned.

The only difference is that you may be shown a different error message depending on your scenario. In some cases, you will be notified that you need to TPM 2.0 and a Boot safe to run the game, while in other scenarios you will be prompted to enable Control Flow Guard or CFG on your operating system.

We will cover all of this in more detail, however, before that, let’s first look at the potential causes of the problem so that we can establish an understanding of why the error is being caused and, as a result, isolate the source of the problem. With that being said, let’s get started.

• VGC service stopped: It turns out that one of the reasons why you might be encountering the mentioned issue could be due to the VGC service. The said service must be running when you launch Valorant, and in case it doesn't start automatically, you will have to do it manually to avoid facing the error message.
• Third Party Software: Another reason why you may be facing the error message in question can be due to the third-party software that you have installed on your system. This can happen when the third-party software is interfering with the Valorant app due to which the error message appears. As per user reports, Discord and MSI Afterburner have been some of the culprit apps causing the issue. In such a scenario, you will have to disable them and then run the game to avoid any interruptions.
• Virtualization of CPU: CPU virtualization allows your processor to act as multiple individual processors. This can help the operating system to efficiently utilize CPUs. However, in some cases, this can cause the error message in question here, especially if you have Virtual machines on your system. In such a scenario, you will have to disable virtualization in your BIOS to fix the problem.
• Secure Boot: It turns out that if you are using Windows 11 when trying to play Valorant, one of the reasons why you might encounter the issue could be due to Secure Boot. Valorant has been enforcing Windows 11 requirements on users who have updated or clean installed Windows 11 on their machine. So, if Secure Boot is disabled in your system BIOS, you are most likely to encounter the said issue.
• Flow Guard Control: Apart from Secure Boot, Control Flow Guard can also cause the issue, especially on Windows 11 machines. The game requires CFG to be enabled, and in case the feature is disabled on your system, you won’t be able to launch the game even in some cases. So, an easy fix here would be to simply enable Control Flow Guard via Windows Settings.
• Outdated Windows: Another reason you may encounter the error message in question could be due to outdated Windows. Valorant often requires your system to be up to date, especially due to its anti-cheat system, Vanguard. Therefore, running the game on an outdated version of Windows can lead to issues, so you'll need to make sure your OS is up to date in your case.
• DNS configuration: Finally, your internet settings can also be a factor in raising the issue at hand. Sometimes, this can happen when you have specified custom DNS settings on your system. In such a scenario, you will have to flush your DNS to get the game running smoothly again.

How to fix Valorant error 1067 on Windows?

Now that we have gone through a complete list of possible reasons that can actually contribute to causing the error message in question, it is time to start showing you how to resolve it through the different methods available.

If you're running Windows 11, we recommend trying the Secure Boot and Control Flow Guard solutions first to see if they resolve the issue. With that said, let's get started without further ado.

Check the VGC service

It turns out that the first thing you need to do when you encounter the problem mentioned here is to make sure that the VGC service is running on your system.

This system is necessary to ensure that your game of Valorant run smoothly. If the service stops for any reason, you will be disconnected from the game and an error message will be displayed.

Therefore, the first step to resolve the issue should be to make sure that the vgc service is perfectly fine. To do this, follow these instructions given below:

• First, open the dialog box Run by clicking Windows key + R.
• Then, in the Run dialog box, type services.msc and then press the key Enter.
• This will open the Services window which lists all the services on your system.
• In the list of services, find the service vgc. To make it easier, press the key V on your keyboard to jump to services that begin with the alphabet V.

• Once you have found the service, double-click on it to open the window Properties.
• If the service is running, click the button Stop and then start it again by clicking on Start.
• In case the service is not running by default, go ahead and start it by clicking on the button Home.

• Once you have done that, you can close the Services window. After that, open the game to see if the problem is there.

Close Discord and MSI Afterburner

Although Discord is widely used to communicate while playing a game, in some cases, it can cause a problem with the game that will prevent you from playing it.

Sometimes even MSI Afterburner can interfere with the game and due to Vanguard anticheat, you will not be able to play the game properly and hence you will get disconnected with Valorant error message 1067 on Windows.

This happens because MSI Afterburner tries to show you the statistics of your hardware while you are playing the game, which Vanguard's anticheat may not allow.

So if you have any of the apps installed, make sure to close them completely through the Task Manager. Once you've done that, you can go ahead and open the game to see if the issue persists.

Clear DNS settings

As we mentioned above, the problem can also be caused by your network settings in some cases. Most of the time, DNS settings can be responsible for issues like these, and they are usually caused by the custom DNS servers you have provided to your network adapter.

If this case is applicable, you will need to flush your DNS settings which will restore your DNS settings to their default settings. Additionally, you can also choose to provide a more stable DNS server. To do all this, follow the instructions given below:

• First, you need to open a window symbol of the system elevated. To do this, open the start menu by pressing the Windows key and then search for cmd. Right click on the result displayed and choose Run as administrator in the drop-down menu.

• Once the Command Prompt window is open, type ipconfig / flushdns without the quotes and then press the key Intro.

• After that, right click on the network icon on the taskbar and select open settings de network and internet on the menu.
• In the settings window, click on the option Change adapter options.

• Here you will see your network adapters. Right click on your network adapter and select Properties in the drop-down menu.
• There, from the list, click on Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP / IPv4) and then click on the window Properties.

• At the bottom, select the option Use the following DNS server addresses and then in the two fields below, provide the following IP addresses respectively.

• Finally, close the windows and then try to open the game to check if the problem persists.

Select the language for non-Unicode programs

As it turns out, in some cases, if you don't have a system language selected for programs that don't support Unicode, you may encounter the Valorant error 1067 on Windows. This has been reported by a user who was directed to this solution by the Riot Support team. To do this, follow the instructions given below:

• First, open the Configuring Windows window pressing Windows key + I.

• Once the Settings window is open, go to Time and language.
• There, switch to the tab Language On the left side.
• In the Language tab, on the right side in Related settings, you must click on the option Administrative Language Settings.

• This will open a new window. There, click on the button Change system locale.

• Select your preferred language from the drop-down menu and also make sure to check the Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support option.
• Then do click en Accept. Follow up by clicking on Apply and later Accept.
• After doing that, go ahead and open your game and check if the issue persists.

Update outdated Windows

Running a really old and outdated version of Windows is never really a good idea. This is because Windows updates often contain fixes for various issues as well as security patches.

If you try to run Valorant on an older version of Windows, it will most likely cause compatibility issues, so you will need to make sure that Windows is up to date. This is pretty simple and easy to do. Follow the instructions given below to do this:

• First, open the Configuring Windows application by pressing Windows key + I.

• There, navigate to Update and security.
• In the Windows Updateclick the button Search for updates to check for available updates.

• Download and install the updates and then try playing your game. See if the problem persists.

Enable Flow Guard Control

If you're running Windows 11 and you're seeing the error message in question, you may be prompted to enable Control Flow Guard or CFG on your system.

Control Flow Guard is basically a feature that makes it difficult for exploits to work on your system by preventing them from executing arbitrary code through vulnerabilities in your system.

If you are prompted to enable CFG, there are actually two methods you can follow below to do so. Follow whatever you find easiest to enable CFG on your system.

Enable Control Flow Guard through Windows Settings

The first way to enable it would be to do it through Windows settings. Follow these instructions to achieve this:

• First, open the start menu and then search Protection against exploits. Open it.

• This will open a Windows Settings window that will take you to the screen Protection against vulnerabilities.
• In System Configuration, make sure that Protection Flow Control (CFG) be set as Enabled by default in the drop-down menu.

• And that's it. You shouldn't get a CFG error message after this.

Enable Control Flow Guard via Powershell

Control Flow Guard can also be enabled via Powershell with the help of a single command. Follow the instructions given below:

• First, in the Start menu, search for Powershell. Right click on the application and choose Run as administrator in the drop-down menu.

• Once the Powershell window is active, copy and paste the following command to enable CFG:

powershell «Set-ProcessMitigation -System -Enable CFG»

 

• After doing that, CFG should be enabled.

Enable Secure Boot

In addition to the CFG requirement when using Windows 11, in some cases, you may also need to enable Secure Boot in case it is disabled. Secure Boot is essentially a feature that allows your device to boot using only the software or drivers. OS OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) approved.

Secure Boot is also a requirement for Windows 11, so you should have it enabled if you are using the aforementioned version of Windows.

This feature exists in the BIOS and from there you will have to enable it. So, go ahead and reboot your system so that you can access the BIOS. There, locate Secure Boot and enable it. Save the changes and then see if the error message still persists.

Disable virtualization from BIOS

Virtualization is basically a hardware feature that allows your CPU to act like multiple individual CPUs as we mentioned above.

In general terms, what this does is allow your operating system to more efficiently use the CPUs on your system. On top of that, almost all virtual machine software requires you to enable the virtualization feature in your BIOS. However, this is prohibited by Vanguard like most other anticheats like FACEIT AC.

So, in order to play the game, you will need to disable the virtualization feature in your BIOS. Once you have done that, you should be good to go without any issues.

Perform a clean boot

Finally, if none of the above solutions have solved your problem, it is probably because your problem is being caused by third-party software on your system.

If you have multiple applications installed, locating the culprit can be very difficult. That's where Clean Boot comes in. Basically, this is a feature that allows you to start Windows with only the required services running.

This means that all third-party apps and services will stop running on startup. Performing a clean boot is pretty straightforward. If you can play the game without any issues on a clean boot, you should try enabling each service one by one to see which app is actually causing the problem.

Follow the instructions below to perform a clean boot:

• First, open the Run dialog box by pressing Windows key + R.
• Then, in the Run dialog box, type msconfig and then press the key Intro.
• This will open the System Configuration window. There, switch to the Services.
• In the Services tab, first of all, go ahead and click on the box Hide all Microsoft services.

• Then follow up by clicking the button Disable all, which will disable all other services. After doing this, click on Apply.
• Afterwards, switch to the Home tab and click on the option Open Task Manager.

• On the Startup tab of Task Manager, select each application and click the button Deactivate.

• After doing that, go ahead and reboot your system.
• Once your PC boots up, open the game and see if the issue persists.

Nota: After locating the culprit app, don't forget to enable all the services we disabled earlier.
