Fix Low Amount of VRAM Available Notification

Players of the recently released Far Cry 6 are experiencing the "Low VRAM Available" notification message . This would be understandable if it only appeared for players with low VRAM; however, it turns out that players with more than enough available VRAM are also frequently receiving the notification.

This is not actually an error message, but rather a warning. So, while there may not be a way to fix it since it is not an error but a warning that pops up from time to time, you can stop it from showing up, which is what we will show you in this article, just go ahead.

How to avoid the Low Amount of Available VRAM notification message?

In case you don't know, VRAM stands for Video Random Access Memory and it's just a fancy way of referring to graphics card memory. VRAM is used to store graphics data that is processed by your graphics card. Newer graphics cards come with larger amounts of VRAM which is then used for different things, especially gaming.

Since Far Cry 6 hasn't been out for long, it's expected to be a heavy game and will require a fairly decent setup to run smoothly. If your settings aren't particularly high, you'll obviously get the notification that may be warranted.

However, gamers with high-end PCs and more than enough VRAM are also getting the error which refers to this being a game issue rather than an intentional experience. Regardless, there are a few ways to make the notification go away. With that said, let’s look at potential solutions to the low amount of VRAM available notification message.

Lower graphics settings

One of the main reasons why you may encounter the low amount of available VRAM notification over and over again is due to your graphics settings. This can happen when you are running the game on high or ultra settings while your graphics card is unable to handle the load.

In such a scenario, it is pretty obvious that you will get the low VRAM notification and will have to reduce the graphics settings to compensate. As it turns out, this can happen when the required amount of VRAM is more than the VRAM you have available.

So, open the game settings and reduce the graphics settings. Once you've done that, see if you still encounter the notification.

Besides that, if you have a high-end PC and the amount of VRAM is not an issue, we do not recommend lowering the graphics settings as that would be wasteful. In that case, you should move on to the next method.

Disable DXR shadows

DirectX Ray Tracing or DXR is a feature that was introduced in DirectX version 12 that is used to implement ray tracing for the rendering of video graphics.

Some users have reported that after disabling DXR Shadows in the game settings, they stopped getting the low VRAM available notification message. So, go ahead and disable DXR Shadows if you have an RTX series graphics card in your computer.

It turns out the difference you create isn't noticeable, and according to user reports, you might even see a ten percent performance boost. You can find DXR Shadows under Extended Features in Quality settings. If you don't want to change any of the graphics settings and want to take full advantage of your current configuration, that's understandable. In that case, simply move on to the next method.

Turn off notifications

It turns out that another way to get rid of the annoying low VRAM available notification message is to simply disable in-game notifications.

Doing this will remove any notifications that pop up and thus the low VRAM notification will not appear either. However, some of you may find this problematic as this will disable notifications that may come from your friends, which includes game invites or chat messages from your friends.

If that's something that doesn't bother you, follow these steps to disable in-game notifications:

• The first thing you need to do is open the game.
• Then while you are in the game you need to press Shift + F2 on your keyboard to bring up the Uplay overlay.
• In the overlay, on the left side, click on the icon de adjustments to go to Configuration.

• There in Notifications, Disable in-game notifications by clicking the slider Enable in-game notifications provided.

• After doing that, you will no longer receive the notification.

Disable in-game overlay

Aside from just the in-game notifications, you can also choose to completely disable the in-game overlay altogether. Sometimes this can even give you a performance boost, so if that's something you'd like, you should consider disabling the in-game overlay. The overlay is basically all of the Uplay options and notifications provided to you while you're in a game. To disable the overlay, follow the instructions below:

• First of all, go ahead and close Far Cry 6.
• After that, open the application Ubisoft connect.
• In the upper left corner of the screen, you have to click on the icon burger provided.

• In the menu that appears, you must click on the option Configuration.

• Now, in the tab General, make sure to click the checkbox Enable in-game overlay for supported games to uncheck it.

• Once you've done that, you will no longer receive the low VRAM notification.

Remove HD texture pack

Finally, the reason why most of you might be getting the notification constantly may be due to the HD Texture Pack. The HD Texture Pack is an additional download for the game that further enhances the graphics of the game.

This is primarily aimed at high-end PCs that can handle the graphics boost. However, if you have installed the HD Texture Pack, you may not know this, but it actually requires you to have more than 11GB of VRAM available.

This amount is not available on older GPUs, so if you have one, you'll need to remove the HD Texture Pack. To uninstall the HD Texture Pack, open the Ubisoft Connect app on your system and then go to Far Cry 6 in the Games tab.

There, scroll down and under Owned DLC, you'll see the HD Texture Pack option. If you have it installed, you'll see an Uninstall button that you can use to uninstall the texture pack from the game. Go ahead and do that, and then try playing the game to see if the Low VRAM Available notification still appears.
