Cydia is the premier “app store” for jailbreakers, allowing you to download apps, tweaks, themes, add-ons, and more to enhance your device and make it feel like your own.
The store includes many features that Apple's app store should have, such as the ability to install apps from external sources of your choice, a changelog showing all updates to the app, and the ability to search by developer.
If you want to jailbreak, the first thing you should know is How to use the store. Pay attention to our complete app tutorial and you will be able to move forward with this.

Initializing file system in Cydia
The first time you launch Cydia, you won't be able to access the full app. Instead, your new app store will display a grey screen with a loading wheel that says "Initializing file system«. Please wait while Cydia completes this process. When you are done, Cydia will automatically close and restart your springboard.
Who you are?
When you open the store, you will be asked to identify what type of user you are. Unless you classify yourself as a power user, select “User«. This ensures that you will only be shown basic apps. (Note: If you accidentally chose the wrong filter and want to change it, simply go to the tab Manage at the bottom and press «Configuration» at the top left).
Upgrade Packages
From time to time, even the first time you open the store, you may get a pop-up bubble asking you to “Update packages«. These are the steps you must follow:
- Step 1: press «Complete upgrade» to update some of the core components of Cydia.
- Step 2: On the next screen, press «RSVP» at the top right to begin the update.
- Step 3: Wait while Cydia downloads and installs the updates. Then press the “Restart Springboard«.
- Step 4: You're done! This will ensure that you get the latest version of Cydia.
Make my life easier
The first time you launch Cydia, you may notice a button on the home screen titled «Make my life easier«. Above is a brief description of what it does. Essentially, it allows Cydia to save «SHSH Blobs» from your device so you can always re-jailbreak, even if you accidentally update your device or lose your current jailbreak.
Browsing Cydia
Click on my.
Home
The Cydia home tab displays some of the most popular apps, tweaks, and themes from the Cydia store. It also has useful links, tips, and guides on jailbreaking.
Sections
The eyelash "Sections» from Cydia works very similarly to the « tabCategories» from the App Store by grouping similar apps, tweaks, and topics together for easy access. If you're looking for a particular type of app or tweak but don't know one, look in the sections tab.
Exchanges
The eyelash "Exchanges» Cydia displays the newest apps in a chronological list. If there are updates available for any of your currently installed apps, they will be displayed here at the top of the list.
Administrator
The eyelash Manage displays 3 main buttons: Packages, sources and Storage.
- Packages: This will display all currently installed applications and allow you to uninstall any unwanted applications.
- Fonts: Due to the open source nature of Cydia, the sources tab is where you can view and edit sources for all your Cydia apps. To remove a source, press “edit» at the top right and then press the sign less red next to the source you no longer want. To add a new source, tap «Add» while you are still in edit mode and enter the URL from the new source.
- Storage: This simply shows the available space on your device.
Search
Type in the search box to quickly find an app you want to install. Simply enter the app name and click on the desired app.
