Google Cloud Print lets you print data, documents, images, and more to your printer via a web connection. To use this service, you must first set up your printer for Google Cloud Printing by following the steps below.
When you set up your printer for Google Cloud Printing, you can access your printer from anywhere in the world and from any device (PC, phone, tablet, or Chromebook ).
Setting up your printer for Google Cloud Printing
To set up your printer for Google Cloud Printing, you'll need a Google ID (your Gmail account) and whether you have a cloud-ready printer or a traditional printer.
Most new printer models are designed for cloud printing and are ready out of the box to use the Google Cloud Print experience. The Google Cloud Print experience also works fine with traditional or non-cloud printers, once they are registered with Google.
Set up a non-cloud printer for Google Cloud Printing
Follow the steps below to set up a conventional printer or a printer that is ready to use the Google Cloud Printing experience.
1. Open it in Chrome on your computer.
2. In a new tab, go to chrome://devices
3. Next, click the Add printers button (See image above) – This may take you to your Google account login page if you are not already logged in.
4. Access your Google Account using your Gmail account title and password
5. When you connect, you may be redirected to the Google Cloud Print website . Any printer connected to your computer may be recognized by Google and appear in the list with a checkmark.
6. Simply click the Add printer(s) button to register your traditional printer with Google. You will see a confirmation message indicating that your printer has been registered with Google (see image below).
Once your traditional or conventional printer is registered with Google, you are ready to print anything from anywhere to your registered printer.
Set up a cloud-ready printer with Google
If you've recently gotten your printer, it's likely a cloud-ready printer, and may even be registered with Google Cloud Print.
1. Open Google Chrome on your computer and click the three-bar menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open a drop-down menu.
2. In the drop-down menu, click on Settings (See image above)
3. On the Settings screen, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Show top settings hyperlink to open or expand the top settings in Chrome. (See image below)
4. Now scroll down the webpage and click on the Add printers button located under the Google Cloud Print section (see image below).
5. You will likely be asked to sign in to your Google account with your consumer ID and password. After signing in, you may encounter one of the following situations.
A. You should find your printer in the following list, My devices . This means your printer is already registered with Google Cloud Print. You can click Manage to check if your printer is registered to use Google Cloud Print.
B. You can even see your printer in the New devices list . In this case, click Sign up and follow the instructions to register your printer with Google Cloud Print.
C. It is also possible that your printer does not appear in the list. In this case, make sure your printer is connected to the Community and also check the manufacturer's website for specific instructions (if any).
