How to Uninstall Norton on Windows, Mac and Android

How to uninstall Norton in Windows

Are you using one of the Norton family of antivirus programs (e.g. Security, Basic, 360, etc.) on a Windows PC and would like to know how to uninstall it? Then follow the instructions below.

First, we will see how to do it according to the standard procedure, then from the Control Panel or the Windows 10 Settings menu. If you do not succeed or if you have problems, you can use a utility provided by Symantec, which is explained below.

Standard procedure

If you haven't already tried removing Norton using its standard uninstall procedure, fix it now. Next:

1. «Press the Home button» (button with the Windows flag) in the lower left corner of the taskbar, «Go to the control panel» in the search box of the menu that opens and «select the correct result from the list shown».

How to uninstall Norton without deleting it

Alternative procedure

If you fail to remove Norton from your computer as I mentioned in the previous step, you can easily get rid of the popular antivirus using a free utility published by the software developers themselves: Norton Remove and Reinstall. To download Norton Remove and Reinstall to your computer:

1. «Go to this page of the site from Symantec», «Click the Download Norton Remove and Reinstall utility link» in the Remove and Reinstall Norton section.
2. When the download is complete, «open the obtained NRnR.exe file» y «click the Yes button» in the window that appears on your desktop. Then «click the OK button», to accept the terms of use of the software, «click on Advanced Options» and press the Delete Just button.
3. Then confirm your intentions by clicking the “Remove” button and "wait for the procedure to complete". When the process is complete, it will ask you to restart your computer to apply all the changes. You can do so by clicking the Restart Now button, and that's it. When it restarts, you will no longer find any trace of Norton on your computer.

If you do not want to uninstall Norton permanently, but want to remove the antivirus because you want to install a more updated version or because you are having problems using it, after launching the removal utility provided by Symantec and clicking the Yes and OK buttons, «press the Delete button», "Reinstall and the wizard continues.

Uninstall Norton on Mac

Are you using a Mac? No problem. Even then, you can uninstall Norton very easily. I'll explain right now. First:

1. «Start the Norton Security application» by clicking on its icon in the Launchpad. Alternatively, you can launch the antivirus by calling it up via Spotlight, Siri, or from the macOS Applications folder.

Uninstall Norton Safe Search

In the browser you usually use to browse the Internet from your computer you had the Norton Safe Search extension installed (useful for getting protection from phishing and other risky sites), but now you have reconsidered and would like to know how to get rid of it.
