If you no longer want to use the photo stream, below are the steps to disable the photo stream on the iPhone, iPad and Mac, without losing any of your images.
Turn off photo transfer on iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Apple's My Photo Stream feature lets you share your latest 1.000 images across all your devices (iPhone, iPad, and Mac).
When you turn on {Photograph} Stream on your iPhone, pictures you take on your device are transferred to the My {Photograph} Stream album in iCloud, and a compressed copy of the pictures is available on your other devices (Mac, iPad, PC).
{Photograph} Stream also automatically transfers a copy of the images from the different devices to the storage internal of your iPhone.
If you find that pictures from different devices are cluttering up the Pictures app and taking up space in your device's storage, you'll need to turn off Photo Streaming.
Is it possible to disable the photo stream without losing the images?
When Photo Stream is on, only a duplicate of the images you just played back on your iPhone will be uploaded to My Photo Stream. Likewise, images from other devices that appear on your iPhone are just a copy of the images from the individual devices.
So when you turn off Photo Stream, it's possible that only the copy of the images from the different devices will be deleted from your iPhone. Individual images will still be available on the devices from which the images were uploaded to My Photo Stream.
