How to add or remove subtotals in the Pivot Desktop

Adding subtotals to the PivotTable provides another step of decomposition, which can be useful. Below are the steps for adding or removing subtotals in the PivotTable.

1. Remove subtotals in the pivot table

In the following pivot table, we now have the “Grand Whole” of all the goods purchased and also the “Subtotals” of the goods purchased by Retailer #1 and Retailer #2.

Since we only have 2 stores, the subtotals look good and provide additional information.

However, when you add more stores to the report, the variety of subtotals can also increase and the report can sometimes appear cluttered.

In this case, you may find it essential to remove the subtotals to keep your report clear and easy to view.

1. Press the button correctly retail Come in and press Area settings in the context menu that appears.

2. On the Area Information Settings screen, select the None and click the button OK button.

This can eliminate the subtotals for Retailer #1 and Retailer #2 and the pivot table will show only the total total of items purchased by each of the stores.

2. Add subtotals in the pivot office

Depending on your needs, you may find the need to display subtotals in the Pivot Desktop. In this case, you can follow the steps below to add subtotals in the Pivot Desktop.

1. Press the button correctly Retailer's entrance and click Area settings in the context menu.

2. On the next screen, choose the Computer possibility and click OK to add subtotals in the pivot office.

As you can see in the image above, the inclusion of subtotals in the pivot table has made the report even more useful by providing the summary of items purchased from each retailer as well as the total total of all items purchased.
