Disable the “Reply with a Message” feature on iPhone and iPad

You will probably need to disable the "Reply from Lock Screen" feature on your iPhone or iPad to prevent someone else from using the "Quick Reply" feature to create a misunderstanding.

Disable “Reply with a message” on the iPhone lock screen

By default, the iPhone allows you to reply to messages directly from the lock screen without needing to unlock your device by entering your lock screen passcode.

This feature, often referred to as “Quick Reply,” is very useful as it allows you to quickly respond to messages without having to unlock your gadget.

However, if you leave your phone unattended, there is always the possibility that someone might be tempted to reply to messages on your behalf, simply as a joke or to create a misunderstanding.

Steps to disable the lock screen reply feature on iPhone and iPad

All you have to do to turn off the Reply with Message feature on your iPhone is go to Settings > Scroll down and click on Contact ID & Passcode.

On the next screen, scroll down to the "Allow entry when locked" section and move the following switch to Respond with a message to OFF instead.

After this change, you or anyone else with access to your gadget will not be able to reply to Messages from the lock screen.

Note: The ability to reply with a message may be disabled on your iPhone if the passcode or Contact ID is not enabled on your device.

2. Disable the notification heart entry from the lock screen

Even if you have disabled message reply on your iPhone, someone who has access to your gadget can view your messages by accessing the notification heart from the lock screen.

For those who want more privacy, it is best to disable access to the notification heart from your unlocked gadget.

Go to Settings > Contact ID & Passcode > On the next screen, scroll down to the "Allow entry when locked" section and transfer the token to the following: Heart Notification instead of OFF.

This can prevent someone from accessing the Notification Center on your iPhone while it is locked.
